Greetings...
If I can scold Pak Lah on his previous performance as Prime Minister of Malaysia, I would like to scold him ONLY on TWO ISSUES. It is more like an advice if only Pak Lah could purchase Time Machine and turn back the time to his early days of premiership.
'The first advice is training yourself to be a good public speaker, good orator. Get read Dale Carnegie book on simple trick how to impress people with your public speaking or get personal trainer. If you do not have anybody in your mind, I would like to make a suggestion for you to take Ernie Chen, the CEO of ATCEN International, my business partner, as your personal trainer. The fact is, becoming a good speaker will not make you intelligent but it could turn you 'Look Intelligent'. And in politic, looking intelligent is essential. Not every good public speaker could tun into a good politician, but majority of good politicians are good public speakers.'
'Anwar Ibrahim is a good example. He know how to make himself look intelligent. During his time as Deputy Prime Minister long, long, long time ago, he liked to come out with a 'new' Indonesian-converted-to-Bahasa Malaysia words. The village folks could not understand him. So-called the urban community, had to bring Dewan Bahasa Dictionary to understand 'what the heck is he talking about.' But one thing he knew, by doing that he portrayed himself as educated and intelligent higher than his audience. And Anwar is not that intelligent from my point of view. During the debate with Shabery Cheek [Information Minister] on the petrol price, I believe those who still remember the basic Macro Economics 101 will definitely know Anwar talk rubbish on inflation, on economic growth, on GDP, etc. But for the rest of people who watched the debate, 'WOW' as if he is the most brilliant economist, came with a very brilliant solution of the problem faced by the whole world. However, what he did is impressive and I have to say that because he did what matters the most in politic, that is making people believe he is competence and brilliant.'
'My second advice to Pak Lah is get a good circle of advisors. To be honest, being a Prime Minister you do not need to know everything under the sky. That is why by using your position, hire good advisors. Not just one advisor but the whole bunch of advisors. Better the advisos not to be made known to the public. They will give you opinion from 360 degrees of angle, but the decision is still yours. I really do not know how you make decision before? At one point you said no hotel for government seminar. The next day you retracted your decision. At one point you said the salary will be given twice a month. A week later [after the studies] you said it is not feasible. How come no body conduct the study before you make such announcement? You increased petrol price drastically, but reduced it gradually. How do you expect the public react on it? What do you expect the effect on the inflation rate? To be fair, it might not your fault. You might just listen to your advisors. If that is the case, I could say you really had a very LOUSY ADVISORS. That is your mistake.'
'Dr. M is not that brilliant either [of course among all the leaders he is one of the best in Asia together with Lim Kuan Yew]. But what I understand about him is he really know how to appoint good 'unofficial' advisors in every aspect of managing this government. I heard a rumors [that might not be true] that some of his advisors are Jews. If that is true, who cares? As long as we could make use of their brain for our own good and as long as we do not need to sell our own 'soul' to them. Dr. M if you read this [I do not think he got time to read this blog] and if my info is incorrect, I would like to sincerely apologize. His remedy on how to bring Malaysian economy back on the track without heavy loan with IMF [unlike South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia] was legendary. Most of the world economists hate to admit that [but they have to] Dr. M was right all along with his decision to have Ringgit Pegging. The result speak by itself. Again, Dr. M might not that brilliant but I still wonder who were his advisors during that time? A to be lesson to be learned, any future Prime Minister should get good advisors from the start.'
If Pak Lah turned himself as good public speaker and hire good bunch of advisors, his situation will not be like where he is now. To be fair with Pak Lah, he is a nice person, mediocre in personality, humble enough to be approached BUT perceived as incompetence Prime Minister.
Feel free to comment this outrageous view or thought of mine.
